Question
Hey can someone give me some keywords that I might find in a Research question that'll help me choose the right inferential testing (t-tests, ANOVA, Chi-square, and Correlation) , like I know if I see the word difference than automatically chi-square and correlation cancel out. just want to know some specifics key terms for each test that will lead me in the right direction when I see them. Now t-test basically used for to make conclusions about mean. When the population is normal having unknown but constant Variance. It might be the case we are testing differences of two means.
In ANOVA, we use where population is divided into different groups(more than two, if number of groups is 2 then will use t-test) such that we can lebel them as A, B, C, D..... Etc. Then try to find all groups are having same mean effects or not. Here also test is about mean.
In chi-square test we try to find a particular sample fits to a particular population or not. Suppose we got a sample and wish to be confident on that sample is from normal density. Then will use chi-square test. Otherwise we can use it where we want several groups are independent or not. Remember that here nothing about mean. Here only thing is sample values.
Correlation can be computed on two different samples or having several samples. And correlation is a measure of linear relationships between variables. So if you find to measure strength of these samples go for test of correction.
