Religious Fundmentalism capture key ideas that shape socieities. What foreign policy would you recommend when interacting with a state controlled by religious fundamentalists? Religious fundamentalism is a political ideology which aims to protect and promote the interests of only a group of people of only one faith over the general interests of other religious communities. The 21st century has led to a paradoxical rise in conservative religious ideologies across the world both in the developed and more so in the developing societies. Countries find themselves amidst new types of political challenges on the global platform and the governments across the world are faced with the task of revising their own positions with respect to the religious ideology of the other state. It is but natural that the religious ideology of a state has implications for the Foreign policy of other states who are in a political and economic relationship with the other state. The Foreign policy of a state is aimed at fostering greater sense of responsibility and mutual alliance with other countries and it is therefore a requisite that the state maintains Andy communicates a mutual respect and recognition of the religious ideology of even the state which may be ruled by fundamentalist groups, in order to strengthen an economic and political bond between the two countries. While one’s own state may continue to acquire its legitimacy from a secular politics, it does not have to violently adhere to the principle of religious equality to the extent that it can further increase the insecurity of the other more fascist regime. Thus, a foreign policy which communicates the states own commitment to secularism in its dealings with other global players is more sound in managing political and economic transactions with the other relatively fundamentalist states.
