Explanation / Answer

My leadership style has always been democratic,I ama good listener and observant by nature. In my college days I always preferred to work in teams and discuss everything with my team members,I have always respected and valued others opinions.I feel when you work together with like minded people, the results are always positive and everyone deserves a chance to express themselves. Whether in college or now at workplace my teams have always appreciated the honesty and openness I have. I dedicate time for them to provide feedback for me on how I can be a better leader to them as well as, any tools they need to be successful. Having transparency in my style, helps me to share my real life situations I have worked through, good and bad. This helps educate my team so they have tools and resources to be a stronger leader than myself. For me everyone is a leader in my group, since I work in an ad agency, regular meetings about new ideas to better our advertisements keeps happening and I guess this leadership works for me in this goal, since everyone gets equal opportunity to present new ideas and suggestions, and everyone feels valued.Making and modifying advertisments is not easy and extensive brainstorming sessions are needed,so this style has always worked for me.It helps to enhance creativeness in members. But,its backfired also, and I have been criticized for being too easy with my team especially, because in this type leadership decision making takes a lot of time since diverse opinions have to be heard and considered. So when quick decisions regarding some manufacturing problem has to be taken then this doesnt work at all.Obviously, you you can’t spend a month deciding what is the best machine to buy as a replacement or whether you should just repair it. Even when we hold meetings regarding product launch events for which we have few days, this style never works and a more autocratic style is needed to keep everyone on their toes.
