Question
If you were undergoing an invasive medical procedure, what information would you want to know prior to giving (or not giving) your consent? Some things to think about: what if they were unsure what was wrong with you and you were undergoing an exploratory procedure. What do you think the consent should contain? What about disposal of tissue? Should this be included in the consent? Why or why not? What if the surgeon has to deviate from the original procedure? How much deviation would you consider acceptable?Explanation / Answer
If i undergo surgery i would like to know why i am undergoing surgey, what is my conditiion, how the surgery is going to helpful for my life. If i undergo exloratory procedure i will carify with them first how the symptoms that i have are suspecting a perticular disease. how accurately exloratory procedure would diagnose the correct problem.
Before surgery the inform consent should explain about the surgery details how they are going to do including pre operative, operative and post operative procedures. how long the surgery would take, what type of anesthesia would they give and who are the surgery team members invloved. what are safety precautions they take and associated minimal risks involved in the surgery.
You should know surgically removed tissue whether they are going to give us the container or dispose it or they are going to send the tissue for biopsy. Yes it should be added in consent form if they are going to dispose it, they can record that as per patients relatives opinion disosed or sent for biopsy.
During surgery the surgical cut may differ from doctor to doctor, they deviate exact procedure as they gain experience and they are skillful. this is acceptable but not the stes they follow in the surgery.
