Ch.1 1) Define physiology. Describe the relationship between physiology and anatomy. 2 Name the different levels of organization in the biosphere 3) Name the 10 systems of the body and give their major functions 4)What does physiology is an integrated science mean?? 5) Define homeostasis. Name some regulated variables that are maintained through homeostasis. 7) Put the following parts of a reflex in the correct order for a physiological response loop: input signal, integrating center, output signal, response, sensor, stimulus, target. LEVEL 2 12) Which orrgan systems are responsible for coordinating body function? For preotcing the body from outside invaders? Which systems exchange material with the external enviornment and what do they exchange? 13) Explain the differences among postiive feedback, negative feedback, and feedforward mechanisms. Under what circumstances would these be advantageous?Explanation / Answer
Q1: Physiology term has been taken from two Greek terms "physis" stands for natur and "logos" stands for process. It is branch of biology that deals with study of natural processes that occur inside the body of living organisms.Physiology deals with study of functioning of different organs of the body of living organisms.
Anatomy deals with the internal structure of organs of the body of living beings.
Physiology and anatomy are closely associated branches of biology. These two branches are taughted together because one deals internal structure of an body organ and other deals with functions of these organs. Anatomy provides detailed structure while as physiology provides details of function of body organ.
