At left is a list of the eight general principles of physiology described in Chapter 1. Drag the four that best match the examples described into the associated blanks at right. Physiological processes requir the transfer and balance of matter and energy The long length circular folds, villi and microvilli of the small intestine offer a large surface area for absorption of ingested materials There is an important relationship between the absorption of nutrients by the Gl tract and their delivery to tissues by the circulatory and lymphatic systems Homeostasis is essential for health t and survival The functions of organ systems are coordinated with each other Structure is a determinant of - and has coevolved with function Physiological processes are dictated by the laws of chemistry and physics Most physiological functions are controlled by multiple regulatory systems, often working in opposition. The basolateral membrane of parietal cells has a transporter that moves bicarbonate out of the cell and chloride into the cell. The acidity of the contents of the stomach is increased by the firing of parasympathetic nerves and decreased by the presence of cholecystokinin Information flow Controlled exchange between cells, tissues of materials occurs between compartments and across cellular membranes. and organs is an essential feature of homeostasis and allows for integration of physiological processesExplanation / Answer
The long length, circular folds of villi and microvilli of the small intestine offer a large surface area for absorption of ingested material - Structure is a determinant of and has Co evolved with function.(reason :statement refers to the fact that the structure of villi is such that it facilitates to perform it's function of absorption better)
The basolateral membrane of the parietal cells has a transporter that moves bicarbonate out of the cell and chloride into the cell - controlled exchange of materials occur between the compartments and across the cellular membrane. (reason :the statement states clearly the controlled movement across membrane I. E., only when bicarbonate move out of membrane the chloride moves in)
There is an important relationship between the absorption of nutrients by the gi tract and their delivery to the tissues through circulatory and lymphatic system - The functions of organ systems are coordinated with each other. (reason:The statement explains about inter organ system involvement)
The acidity of the contents of the stomach is increased by the firing of parasympathetic nerves and decreased by the presence of cholecystokinin - Most physiological functions are controlled by multiple regulatory systems, often working in opposition. (reason: here the negative feedback between cholecystokinin and acid content is talked about, also involvement of autonomic nervous system in regulating digestive function)

An increase in fatty acids and amino acids within the small intestine stimulate the secretion of CCK.
CCK stimulate the secretion of enzymes from exocrine cells of pancreas into the pancreatic duct.
CCK also stimulates the contraction of Gall bladder which increases the flow of bile into the common bile duct.
The pancreatic duct and common bile duct merge at the sphincter of oddi which is the opening that leads into small intestine.
The third effect of CCK is to mediate the relaxation of sphincter of oddi causing it to open which increases the flow of bile and pancreatic enzymes into the small intestine.
The final result is the increase in the digestion of fats and proteins within the small intestine.
