Explanation / Answer

Planning is always an important part of the effective project management process whether it is a classroom project or it is a business project. A sound planning helps us to recognize, the resources required to complete the project, essential capabilities to complete the project, potential difficulties and scope and provisions of additional time so that project is completed on time.

With my personal experience on working upon projects at different levels, the planning part always helps in recognizing the important project related issues in advance that could scupper the success of the project. So, it is always there in the preparation part to resolve the difficulties on time so that project is successfully done on time. Not doing so, in the middle of the project, either there will be shortage of time and other resources and there is a dead-end and it requires rework to be done. It has happened sometimes when I planned quickly under the pressure of managing different projects at one point of time. I faced the issues and challenges such as:

1. Redundancy and repetition of the work

2. Rewriting and negotiation of the scope of project

3. Changes in project methodology

4. Modification in pert chart of the project

Above issues can cause unnecessary delay in projects. So, planning should take place to complete a successful project on time.
