Question

Can someone please explain to me how Renal Physiology works?

-We did an experiment in class where we drank either a gatorade or a redbull and then recorded the volume of urine and its density that we produced every 20 minute. I still don't really understand the internal process---like what is going on ?

- and originally we were supposed to use salt pills but used the redbull and gatorade instead and they are supposed to represent high salt and no salt intake .... I just really don't get it. HELP and please be as specific as possible!

Explanation / Answer

Renal function is maintain the electrliyte balance in our body.

Redbulll here represent salt that is NaCl which will give Na ion.

Kidney will try to maintain the concentration of Na in blood

When we take high Na kidney will try to maintain the normal concentration.for that the absorption of Na thorough the kidney will decrease.water follows Na so Absorption of water asli decrease so more amount of water is excreted out that will produce more urine and thus frequency and volume of urine will increase.

When the person will have gatorade which have no Na ion in it.there will be deficiency of Na in blood which is balanced by increased absorption of Na ion from kidney.wager follow Na ion so its absorption also increases thus the urine volume and frequency will decreaaes
