Question

Please explain the physiology. If we have low serotonin,
A) why wouldn't eating food that causes larger insulin response improve serotonin because insulin increases circulating nutrients? B)why wouldn't we crave foods that are high in soluble carbs because they have a lot of insulin precursors? C) why would an insulin resistance person feel less depresses due to increased glucose that indicates that food needs as being met? Please explain the physiology. If we have low serotonin,

Explanation / Answer

A. Generally lower platelet serotonin receptor function is associated with low mood and sometimes better mood when serotonin is higher in blood levels. When we do not eat food there will be fluctuations in glucose production which leads to increased insulin response.

B. We carve high carb foods based on the mood changes which depends on seretini levels. If we take high carb foods there is a chance of increase in glucose levels which leads to diabetes.

C. This is because the persons becomes sensitive to glucose and insulin.
