The Theory is : The I-IT,I-YOU, I-THOU Communication
MARTIN BUBER, stated this theory. As per him their are 3 ways how we communicate with others 1. by treating others as objects (IT) . 2. by treating others as people but not as unique and warm (you) and 3. by treating others as different persons (thou) which he says is the highest form of human communication with others because here there is consideration for each other.
This theory is very important to me because it showed me how our perception impacts the way we behave and communicate and how other person will perceive the same. In other words there is nothing much difficult to acknowledge the other person as a unique individual but somehow we all miss the point and talk as strangers with each other.
2. This theory is related to my idea of competence in communication as a competent communicator can strike at the hearts of others and this theory states that for this we must be fully genuine and acknowledge the other persons individuality. And thus be a skilled communicator
3. As per Buber only by communicating I -thou we fully become human. That is we discard all guises and allow ourselves to be completely genuine in interaction.
