(8 marks) b)Explanation / Answer
14-a- The following things should be addressed in the bereavement leave policy
- Minimum duration of employment
- Types of employees to be covered
- How many days to provide paid leave
-Whom to include in immediate family
b- First thing which should be noted by the HR manager is what will be the minimum duration an employee has worked in the organization. In Canada it should be 3 consecutive months so I,suggest that there should be 3 consecutive months of employment for eligibility of bereavement leave by any employee.
The second one is only fulltime employee should provided paid bereavement policy. Employees who are part time, on contract should not be eligible for bereavement leave.
-The third one is that there should be 3days paid leave and if any employee want to extend the leave period then total 7days leave can be provided and rest 4 days will be leave with out pay.
-The fourth one is death of whom in the immediate family can be entitled for bereavement leave and it should be spouse, parents, children, mother-in-laws and father-in-laws, siblings.
