1. Strength - Old company with strong history, best employees, strong fundamentals, leading software giant of the world, Innovation
2. Weakness - Less agility
3. Opportunities - New technologies are coming up which would be a big opportunity, spread to less penetrated markets in Africa and Asia
4. Threats - Global sowdown can hit the companies prospects, competition fgrom other siftware giants, protectionist measures by US government can increase costs for IBM because they can no more outsource cheap labour from third world countries
2. Strategy Formulation and implementation:
In developed markets it needs to update itself with the latest technolgical advancements, Internet of things is the next big thing which needs to be worked upon
In less developed markets IBM needs to be proactive and work with the governments to improve quality of peoples lives through technology, some common problems faced by the community needs to be solved to gather people's confidence.
In developed markets IBM needs to maintain its competitive advantage through latest technology and diversifying into other business like infrastructure/hardware and in less developed markets it should work for a societal cause.
