Identify the Capabilities required to "deliver products" in a Business Organization
There are various capabilities needed to deliver products by a business fir. We would take the example of a Car manufacturing company.
There can be other capabilities too but they would generating demand, creating product and delivering them INDIRECTLY.
Contrast Push vs Pull system.
A Push system is a supply chain flow in which an estimate is created beforehand and every entity in the system creates and pushes the same volumes as per the estimate. A pull strategy on the other hand, create a demand in the chain only when on order is placed. This demand in turn creates a demand for the other players in the backward chain. Thus at any moment a production schedule tied to the customer needs is run and inventory levels are minimal.
As expected a Pull system ensure minimum inventory and thus low capital tied up and low chances of product obsolescence but it may add delay in order fulfillment as it is either make to order or assemble to order.
Push system is used for mass products which generally follow their estimates and are of low cost in nature so that even if there is some inventory in the chain, it does not lead to lot of capital tied up. But in this case the products are almost ready or on the shelves for consumption and thus service levels are very high.
