Question
Please help with these two questions, I already know the answers to both. I just want a simple explanation as to why that is the answer. I want to see what logic people used to reach their answer. Please explain your answer.
11. Nuclear pores are most similar to which of the following?
a)Gap junctions
b)Desmosomes
c)microtubules
d)Tight junctions
e)Ion channels
If the 4th enzyme of an enzymatic pathway is inhibited by the end product of the pathway, which of
the following is most likely true?
a) The end product of the pathway binds the enzyme reversibly.
b) This particular pathway has five enzymatic steps in total.
c) The enzyme catalyzes an exergonic reaction.
d) The enzyme does not undergo a conformational change upon binding the end product.
e) a) and b)
Explanation / Answer
For 11th one I think its (e) Ion channels. because Nuclear pore (just like ion channel) allow selective passage of molecules inside the nucleus.
For the second one, it could be (a), as the enzyme is inhibited by the end product. This is irreversible as this can be reversed if end product is eliminated from the reaction. Also this doesn't tells how many steps of reaction is this, as its mentioning "End Product" which is not specific.
