1) Softwares are classifed as per the Application Software, Web application and System Software.
It depends on the hardware, systems configuration and way of usage.
There is a segreggation of the software so as to identify the human error, for integrated work and also for file management, operating systems management, etc.
2) The changes to the software might or might not affect the functionality of the software.
An impact analysis is done before any changes to the software. In case the functionality changes are needed then it would change the functionality with the change.
The classification is with respect to design and functionality perspective.
