Explanation / Answer
There are many principles which describes the flow of material, products or information. Mainly two of them are Push and Pull strategies which are being followed immensely in the today's system.
These mechanism or strategies widely impact the working of an organization because the whole system of working depend on these principles.
Part 1:
It depend on the industry to industry and there demand of the selection of Pull or Push strategy to meet the market demand. If we talk about Wal-Mart then they uses the Push flow method verses Pull to fulfill the need of their customer and there supply chain mechanism work to ensure the same using push mechanism.
Part 2:
In my opinion if we talk about manufacturing system then Pull method is more useful. Because in this system the company manufacture a product as per market demand or order. Once the order received then manufacturing plan is scheduled in such a way that it will fulfill the actual demand of product which was received by the company. There are many advantages of this process are like reduce inventory cost, less time to manufacture and foremost important complete the order as per actual demand.
Following are the potential advantages of the pull system:
- Minimum inventory
- Short lead time
- High speed delivery
- Meet actual demand
