Question
Mini-Case: The Metropolitan Medical Group (MMG)
The Metropolitan Medical Group (MMG) merged with the Oak Grove Medical Group (OGMG). The Oak Grove Medical Group has four offices and owns the medical office building where their imaging and radiology lab and physical therapy and diagnostic laboratory centers are located. Although the size of staffs in both practices is about the same, OGMG has a very different financial structure. Not only are their receivables a lot higher, but the aging of their receivables is
much older. This has caused them to miss payments to their vendors, resulting in a higher accounts payable balance. Further analysis revealed that some of the doctors from remote offices have referred patients for laboratory tests and to specialists outside the practice when these same tests or specialists are available internally at other offices. The room that houses the network servers is not climate controlled, secure, or backed up off-site.

Explanation / Answer
1. The Oak Grove Medical Group has good infrastructure with all the labs and facilities. The Metropolitan Medical Group (MMG) has good reputation so these two factors will definitely give a boost to the integration of these two.
2. Project Management implications would be - proper accounting system, new technologies for accounts section
4. As The Oak Grove Medical Group do not have any secure back up and no secure netwrok access this might be problem for the personal data. The group can use the firewalls or any anitivirus to prevent corruption of files and documents. For proper updation of records an automated system can be introduced which will pop up when the documents need an updation.
5. Introducing the wireless notepads would require high end security for data. Unwanted sites should be blocked and the networks should be only on the hospital platform and any external device connection should be blocked so that the data is not transferred from one device to another. IT system should keep a check on the accounts of the staff of sharing any unwanted data outside the premises.
6. Key performance indicators are the factors taken into consideration while measuring the performance of the company on the whole or for an individual.
Major KPI should be recievables from the vendors, no. of patients checked by a doctor, patients refrred to the labs and cost for sure.
8. End user involvement gives a trust to the end users and give them a very high customer experience. End users can be asked about thier views about the facilities provided, thier feedback about the processes they have to follow.
They can be requested to fill a short survey, they can be personally asked about any problems they face.
