The example described below is that of FedEx winning the two quality awards from Logistics Management (LM) for the year 2017. FedEx is a world leader in transportation services and provides service to move cargo from one part of the world to another for individuals and companies.
The Logistics Management Quality Award is based on the readers of the magazine who are certified 3rd party buyers of logistics services. As per their rating of services offered by various firms, the magazine awards the firms which have consistently exhibited high service levels over a period of time.
FedEx was able to to win the award as it was consistently high performing and as per the award givers, demonstrated excellence which have differentiated themselves in the competitive market place. Through providing better warehousing, high level of order fulfilment as per customer requirement and use of information technology, FedEx was able to stand out.
Since FexEx Supply Chain demonstrated superior performance in most of the attributes, they received high scores and could attain the gold award.
