In thinking about people that you know, do you believe that you have a network in place? Explain your answer to this by answering the following questions:

Define ways in which you would go about networking to explore opportunities in your career field and obtain more information for yourself. If applicable, explain ways in which you have already done that and how you will expand going forward.

Choose one person in your career field that you would like to have a conversation with. What do you think you can learn from this person?

In today’s fast moving world which is full of social media a possibility of meeting new people on every step through social media accounts, it is imperative to make social contacts and network with them. What is networking? In simple words, networking means interacting with others for information exchange and developing social and professional contacts.

As a working person, it is imperative to do networking with my network. This means that I can get to know about the business opportunities I can have in market and also how to increase my revenue through them.

Some of my networking techniques are: -

1.         Building my network – I keep on adding people to my network by attending lots of social and network events. I am meet lots of interesting people and prospective clients who become friends, colleagues and clients in long run.

2.         I am nice and giving – When I am in position of power, I treat people nicely. I don’t burn any bridges and therefore can look back upon my network to help me when required. I also give my time and advice to people who require it. Also, I give referrals to my network. It all comes back to me as bountiful business opportunities.

3.         Ask my network – When I need something, I simply ask my network and don’t shy away from asking help. Whenever I ask help from my network, I am sure to get that help

4.         Communication and building rapport – I consciously make an effort to keep in touch with my contacts and try and contact everyone consistently. One of the tactics is that I meet up my network on regular basis. If I am unable to meet, I call them or send a friendly note. I also make sure that I don’t come across as a cold and unfriendly person. I make sure that people are able to easily speak to me and can talk about anything with me.

To further my network, I plan to set my goals and increase my network through my current network. I have a clear vision of what I should do and communicate necessary information to my contacts, who are willing to help me with all the other details making it a simple path for me.

I would like to speak to Bill Gates. He is one of the business leaders whose qualities I have admired since my school days. He has managed to keep up the pace with the world and still has his feet firmly on ground. I would like to learn the art of humility from him. I would ask him to give me a few tips of how to keep my feet on ground and still manage to travel the world as world’s richest person. I would like to ask him what keeps him humble and how has he managed to be like what he is even today, in this fast paced world. I would also like to take tips to create and manage a worldwide business empire.
