The Hospital has hired a primary care physician, Dr. Smith, to open a new ABC Neighborhood Care Center that will see patients of all ages for routine care. Dr. Smith is a Board Certified Family Practice physician who is coming from another hospital, so he has no office of his own. The Hospital has asked you to create a work team to staff the new practice and support Dr. Smith. Your biggest challenge is in selecting personalities that will blend well together to form a team.
1) How would you ensure that Dr. Smith and the new work team are working together effectively? What evidence would alert you that there could be problems developing within the team?

Clear Roles: Being in a team, everybody has a role to play. High performance teams give members individual roles other than collective work. This is what makes each and every member essential to the team as well as have their own clear role. Roles are about design, division, and deployment of work.
Accepted Leadership: Every team needs a leader, and without a leader each person of the team would do what they want. That is why high performance teams need competent leaders. They are to motivate the team and give them direction.
Effective Processes: High performance teams need a process to get from step 1 to step 2. Effective processing is a map to designed by the team to ensure that they are covering every step to get to the next.
Solid Relationships: A solid team relationship creates high levels of collaboration. It is followed by trust, acceptance, respect, understanding, and courtesy. Without any of these a team can not collaborate and achieve their purpose.
Excellent Communication: Without communication a team will never succeed. It is very important to have communication amongst the team to be an effective team. Fast, clear, timely, accurate communication is a hallmark of high levels of team performance.
The things that would alert are:
1. Less than average performance.
2. Team coherence getting less and friction getting more and more leading to less effectiveness of the team members.
