Please base your written assignment on the following scenario: You are the Human Resources Director for ABC Hospital. The Hospital has hired a primary care physician, Dr. Smith, to open a new ABC Neighborhood Care Center that will see patients of all ages for routine care. Dr. Smith is a Board Certified Family Practice physician who is coming from another hospital, so he has no office of his own. The Hospital has asked you to create a work team to staff the new practice and support Dr. Smith. Your biggest challenge is in selecting personalities that will blend well together to form a team.
1) How would you ensure that Dr. Smith and the new work team are working together effectively?
2) What evidence would alert you that there could be problems developing within the team?

Dr. Smith is going to start and run neighborhood care center as per the directives of the hospital. My first step will be to identify the key roles to be played by the individuals as a part of the team, working at the care center.
I find that there is a need of:
a. Nurses
b. Paraprofessionals
c. Therapists
d. Physicians
e. Office staff
Dr. Smith is already a physician, thus, it is the work pressure that will require him to demand another physician in the work team.
According to the key roles, I will include employees who are good at delivering their roles on an independent basis with full responsibility. Numbers of employees, according to the role can vary because of variation in work pressure on care center. Here, building a team on the basis of roles and expertise required, will discharge their responsibilities effectively without any conflict.

If additional workload on care center is forcing employees to perform the work of others, then it starts building conflict. Thus, the understaffing needs to be avoided. Also, overlapping of roles between two different profiles also create conflict and confusion. Thus, there should be clearly stated key responsibility areas without any overlap.
Different level of work pressure on different members of the team also brings conflict and team dynamics fails to deliver optimized results. Thus, it has to be taken care off.
