In the textbook reading, you learn about the importance of audience analysis when making a presentation. Think about the presentation you have created will for the topic assignment. For your initial topic assignment, you designed a presentation focused to convincing key stakeholders to sponsor and support your idea so it can be implemented within your organization. Discuss how the pitch will need to be modified for other audiences once you have gained support from stakeholder sponsors. In what ways will your change the presentation when giving it to those who will be directly affected by the changes you are proposing? How will the way you approach the audience change? Provide specific examples to illustrate your ideas.
Explanation / Answer
We need to change the presentation according to the audience before which we are going to present and if the audience is the group who is going to get affected from that then our presentation should be prepared according to that and should address that specifically.
Generally the rule of presentation is you should know your audience very well. things like their general age, gender, education level, religion, language and culture, and group membership —is the single most important aspect of developing your presentation and speech. So here if we are presenting it to the members of the organization then we need to put the following points –
so ideally it should include all the things which can affect the individual day to day affairs and it should be an interactive presentation in which suggestions from individual should be invited and implemented accordingly so majority are in consensus with that.
How will the way you approach the audience change?
So the way of approaching will be changed completely. We need to follow Audience-Centered Approach to Speaking. Since there is usually limited communication between the speaker and the audience, there is limited opportunity to go back to explain your meaning. In order to prepare, it is important to know about the audience and adapt the message to the audience. You want to prepare your speech with a focus on the audience. We call this approach audience-centered.
Earlier you were presenting a different set of people who were key stakeholders for them you were seeking approval for the project or idea. This time after you got approval you are approaching the audience on whom it will be implemented so the way to approach should be changed. Again it involves mostly advantages for individual rather than on organization but they should be explained impact on organization as well as long term interest of employees is his organization.
You should include example based presentation. Pros and cons should be explained very clearly to the individual. Audience should be encouraged to ask their doubts because key stakeholders will have different point of view while individual may have different point of view.
For example you want to implement an idea about employee engagement in which you want employees families to be engaged on a particular day of the month so that there is an increase in employee engagement. While you can seek management approval and key stakeholders approval for budget and all other things. For employees you need to explain them the benefits and you need to actually convince them s othat because the work would be there and they need to take out time for these activity while your ultimate goal may be increased efficiency and increased loyalty of employee towards orgnisation.
