Please give an explaination along with your answer, thanks.
If a single solution is prepared with both the red and blue dyes such that after dilution the absorbance reading for this solution was the same at 630 and 500nm, what is the respective or relative concentrations of the two dyes?
d. From the information presented you could not predict the relative concentrations of the dye

If a single solution is prepared with both the red and blue dyes such that after dilution the absorbance reading for this solution was the same at 630 and 500nm, what is the respective or relative concentrations of the two dyes?
a. The concentrations of the blue and the red dye are the same in this solution b. The concentration of the blue dye is greater than the red dye c. The concentration of the red dye is greater than the blue dyed. From the information presented you could not predict the relative concentrations of the dye
Explanation / Answer
answer ) D) From the information presented you could not predict the relative concentrations of the dye
If a single solution is prepared with both the red and blue dyes such that after dilution the absorbance reading for this solution was the same at 630 and 500nm
here we are diluting and we know that diluting decreases the absorbance as absorbence
A = epsilon C*L(Beer Lambert law )
where epsilon = molar extinction coefficient , C= concentration ,L= length of cuvette
hence from above absorbance is directly related to concentration .
so the The concentration of the red dye is greater than the blue dye hence we dilute extra red so that the wavelength get decreases .
