Question
Can you please help me with the questions below?
The iron tablet was placed in 250 mL beaker and dissolved. A 0.0997 M solution of sodium hydroxide was mL by mL titrated into the iron solution and each pi I reading was recorded and then graphed, (see graph below) The reaction happening is: Fe^2 +20H- Fe(OH), (net ionic reaction) Titration Curve of Iron(II) unknown solution Draw in the titration curve formed by the data points Put an X at the equivalence point How many mL of NaOH were added to reach the equivalence point? Now many moles of NaOH were used to titrate the iron (II) solution (reach the equivalence point)? If you started out with 25.00mL of the unknown iron solution, what would be the concentration of the iron?Explanation / Answer
Using the titration curve shown above
2) Equivalence point is when all of Fe has reacted with added NaOH. The equivalence point is around pH 7.8 on the midpoint of the vertical part of the curve.
3) ml of NaOH added to reach equivalence point = 18 ml
4) moles of NaOH present at equivalence point = 0.0997 M x 18 ml = 1.7946 mmol
5) If the unknown iron solution volume = 25.00 ml
Concentration of the iron in solution = 1.7946 mmol/25 ml = 0.072 M
