Question
Please help, first I am adding the questions I am having trouble with then the experiment and the Class results B. Post-Lab Assessment Questions: 1. (5 pts) How could you as a class settle on one value to report to the Bayer Corporation? (8 pts) Calculate the percentage (by mass) of sodium in sodium bicarbonate. You must show your calculations to receive credit for this question. (7 pts) Based on the results you obtained in the lab today, calculate the percentage (by mass) of NaHCO3 in one alka-seltzer tablet. You must show your calculations to 2. 3. receive credit for this question.
Explanation / Answer
Ans :-B (2)
We know molecular mass of Na =23 mol/g
Molecular mass of NaHCO3= 84.01 mol/g
So we can say that
84.01 mol/g NaHCO3 contains 23 mol/g Na
So 1 mol/g NaHCO3 contains 23/84.01 mole/g
So 100 mol/g NaHCO3 contains (23/84.01)*100= 27.38%
So percentage of Na (by mass) in NaHCO3 IS 27.38 %
