Question
An airplane is in level flight over Antartica. As viewed by a passenger facing toward the front of the plane, is the left or the right wingtip at a higher potental ? Does your answer depend on which direction the plane is facing? What if the plane was flying over the equator?
A magnet slides down inclined aluminum ramp with a constant velocity, rather than accelerating. Aluminum is not a magnetic material, so there should be no magnetic attraction between the magnet and the aluminum. Explain the process that caused this to happen.
A magnet is dropped through a conducting coil with its North pole pointing downward.
a). as we look at the ring from above which direction does the induced current flow?
b) does the ring exert a force on the magnet?
Explanation / Answer
pretty long question :
1) the potential differnce depends on the direction of flight of the aeroplane.
2) if the plane flies over the equator the potential will be the same on both the sides.
3) this is because of induced emf which produces a magnetic filed opposing the motion of the magnet
4) a) anti-clockwise, b) yes
