Question
Problem 11: Calculate (a) the maximum height, (b) the time of flight, and (c) the range of a projectile launched from ground level at an angle of 30° from the horizontal and given an initial speed of 140 meters per second. Assume the projectile has a mass of 25 kilograms. Fu x: Answer (a): Answer (b): Answer (c) Problem 12: A stone is thrown vertically downwards with an initial speed of 8 m/s from the top of a 300 meter tall cliff. How much time will it take for the stone to reach the ground? Assume the stone has a mass of 5 kilograms Answer:Explanation / Answer
I am allowed to answer only 1 question at a time and your 1st question has 3 parts.
So i will solve all 3 parts of 1st question
11)
for Projectile:
Time of flight : 2*Vo* sin thetha /g
maximum height = (Vo * sin thetha)^2 /2g
Range = Vo^2 * sin (2*thetha) /g
a)
maximum height = (Vo * sin thetha)^2 /2g
= (140* sin 30)^2 / (2*9.8)
= 250 m
Answer: 250 m
b)
Time of flight = 2*Vo* sin thetha /g
= 2*140*sin 30 / 9.8
= 14.3 s
Answer: 14.3 s
c)
Range = Vo^2 * sin (2*thetha) /g
= (140)^2 * sin (2*30) / 9.8
=1732 m
Answer: 1732 m
