1.Starship Design. You’re learning that the distances in our galaxy and universe are huge and that there seems to be an universal speed limit (the speed of light). If we are ever to travel to other stars, we need to design spaceships that can travel much faster. Find more details about a proposal for starship propulsion or design and share these details with your classmates. How would the starship work? What new technologies would be needed and what existing technologies could be applied? Hint: search terms like: nuclear rocket, ion engine, solar sail, interstellar arc, matter-antimatter rocket, interstellar ramjet, warp drive.

2.The Fate of Life in the Universe. Consider the timeline of Earth’s history compared to the age of the universe, which suggests that life is just a fleeting phase in the long-term history of the universe. Also consider the Pale Blue Dot photo, which shows how small Earth is even on the scale of our solar system. How does the timeline and/or photo make you feel? How do you think the scale of time and space should influence our perspective on our own place in the universe. Why?

Subject Name- Starship Design

We know the distance of nearest star for us is 4 light year. It is Alpha Centauri. In rest frame of ground we need 4 years to reach this star if our starship travels with speed of light (300000 Km/s). Currently we have not such a design which can move near to speed of light. Future Starship designs must have following Components-

1. Length contraction- Speed near c will contract the distance between earth and Alpha Centauri in the frame of Starship. Hence it will take less time and hence less fuel.

2. Design Material- Material must have high strength and low weight. Graphene can be best choice. Research are going on Graphene. Such a high strength and low weight material can be move fast and use less fuel.

3. Fuel - Best use of controlled fission reaction and nuclear fusion can be best choice for fuel. Anilation of matter and antimatter can be best choice. These process will produces enormous energy.

4. Warp drive- Faster than speed of light is posible according to field equations of Einstein's General Relativity. This is a kind of wormhole which will give path way beyond our 4 dimension. The research is going in this field.
