Question

Stress Level

Commuting time

9

By writing formulas in Excel give the expected frequencies (rounded to nearest tenth) and give the calculated Chi Square.   ALL work must be done by writing formulas in Excel. I must be able to see your formulas. There should be only formula for the expected frequentics. What is the critical Chi Square?

Is stress level independent of commuting time? (yes or no) You must answer "yes" or "no" for independence.

Comparing the expected and the observed frequencies, which stress level(s) is/are over represented in the data for the Over 45 min commuting time. Remember if something is over represented in the data, it means the data is more than the expected. And if something is under represented in the data, it means the data is less than the expected.

Submit all work by the first post due date. I will point out any mistakes. Then you don't have to do anything. But if you want to improve your grade it will be up to you to reread the lecture and figure out what you need to do to correct your mistake.

Please note: I will point out where your mistakes are, NOT what you must do to fix them. It is your responsibility as part of the learning process, to go over the lecture again. Then you should work the problems in the lecture and compare what you did with what is in the lecture, thereby discovering on your own what needs to be done to fix your mistakes.

Explanation / Answer

since TS < critical value

we fail to reject the null and hence we conclude that stress level is independent of commuting time
