Question

Hey Chegg, I could use your help with this question.

These are the Chi-square practice templates that I downloaded from an microsoft excel file

Help me complete 3 chi-square tests (observed, expected, chi square) (1 in each sheet) and indicate whether or not the variables are independent (or related to each other)

Please provide the p-value and the alpha

I would really appreciate if you can please show your work and explain step by step how you completed the 3 chi-square tests (1 in each sheet) and please explain if the variables are independent or not and why. Thanks in advance

Explanation / Answer

from above given detail: below is the solution ; please follow formulas in the cells

here chi stat X2 =7.453

degree of freedom =(number of rows-1)(number of columns-1) =(5-1)*(2-1)=4

for 4 degree of freedom and chi stat 7.453 ; p value=0.1138

as we do not know alpha we consider it 0.05 default value

for p value is higher then 0.05 level we can not reject null hypothesis and conclude that we do not have sufficent evidence that variables are dependent

please reply for doubt
