We are doing an international project for a class, where we have to choose a global product and introduce it to a foreign country, for this project we have decided to use the brand of '' Bimbo '' (the brand of bread), we have done a little research and apparently there is no Bimbo in Germany, so we are using to use Germany. What I need is to Compare/Constrast with the competition such as product feature, brands, packaging, price , dsitribution , etc. So the question is:

To compare/ constrast the competitors of Bimbo as a new brand with the German bread brands

Bimbo brand is strategically placed in the US market and is one of the leading brands along with Hostess foods and McKee foods.

Traditionally German people are very good bakers themselves and like fresh baked bread and so not many competition will be faced by Bimbo but it will have many challenges. Many of the companies that operate in germany which offer packaged bread include brands like Delba, Mestemacher or germandeli. But these brands are known either only locally orare producers of only traditional german bread including the dark wholegrain bread.

The current globalization trend has seen many changes in the foodhabits of germans as well and Bimbo brand might want to address these markets by providing breads from all over the world and since they are already known for their freshness USP, Bimbo might be able to become a leader in the packaged bread sector in Germany as well.

The existing brands have a regional distribution with some brands being gourmet. The pricing for gourmet foods would definitely be expensive to the average german household. Bimbo brand should be priced in such a manner that it does not hit the average german's pocket hard. Also the distribution channel of Bimbo foods in the US is through a distribution channel and it should try the same network of distribution in Germany as well so as to reduce expense costs and this would allow it to spread the brand awareness throughout the country as compared to the brands that play only regionally in Germany.
