1. The macromolecules that undergo chemical digestion are called nutrients. There are 4 types of macromolecules called carbohydrate, proteins, lipids and nucleic acids. These are polymers that are broken down during chemical digestion in alimentary canal. The chemical digestion is accomplished by enzymes.
2. The major site of absorption in alimentary canal is intestines. The alimentary canal starts from mouth and ends with exit that excretes the undigested waste. In between it contains mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, duodenum, small intestines, large intestines and exit pore.
3. The substrate for salivary amylase is carbohydrate. Pepsin is enzyme that acts on proteins. The pancreatic lipase acts on lipids or fats.
