The stroy has both shades of urban world as well as the rural world. But it takes place in urban enviornment. A 18 year old orphan boy lives in the slums of Mumbai, who is now going to experience the most important day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a quiz show and the prize money is 20 million INR which is beyond his imagnation as he was struggling for daily need of bread n butter. In a slum area of mumbai he is surviving so the story mainly takes place in a metropolitan city called mumbai.
Protagonist’s cultural characteristics and behavior
Jamal, the protagonist is a poor boy with all the possibilities to enter in the world of crime which keeps on inviting him as his elder brother Salim, who was his guardian, protector and antagonist because he was indulge in criminal activities on small scale and always tries to offer the same to Jamal. But Jamal wants to live an honest life which shows that even in so many dificulties, a human being with strong character and will power can live a true and inspired life. Jamal with no education, works in a call center serving tea and having a sharp brain and a zeal to grow and learn finally wins the show.
