1) We are living in a time of an enormous threat on a planetary level. Many have said that business has the potential to play a significant--perhaps even a leadership--role in addressing climate change. What do you think is the responsibility of businesses right now? Should they be actively trying to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions? What about fossil fuel usage? What will you be looking for in a potential employer? Will the company's environmental footprint play a role in your decision to take a job? Does it play a role in the purchasing decisions you make?
2) Imagine a company is trying to decide where to locate a new factory. It could locate in the US, where labor and environmental regulations drive up the cost of production, or locate in a developing region, where it might be able to lower the cost of production by paying workers less and lowering environmental standards. Discuss how either of these choices might be in the "best interest" of the corporation. If you were advising the corporation on this decision, what factors would you consider? What decision do you think you might make? Would your decision vary based on the type of company and industry in which it operates? If so, how?

1.We are living in an era of global warming where it is everyone’s responsibility to reduce green house emissions. Since the business organizations are the main reason for green house emissions and environmental pollution they are responsible to take necessary steps towards reduction of global warming. Global warming causes many issues including climatic changes. Now the people are concerned about the effects of global warming and the consumers have started supporting the companies who are actively participating in environment protection by incorporating changes in their process. There are many environmental protection agencies that monitor the factory emissions and validate their effects on atmosphere. They will not allow the companies to work if they do not follow the guidelines related to environment protection.
The business organizations find the environmental protection as a best way to improve their brand recognition. The high cost of the non renewable resources and the profit by following environmental guidelines also ensure that many companies work towards reducing green house gases. There are several strategies taken by employers to reduce green n house gases. One is to work with suppliers and reduce the costs in transportation and logistics. Another to produce the products that have low emission like led bulb and the other appliances that are environmental friendly. They take major steps through product labeling that incorporates airfreight labels ad carbon footprints. Still the efforts by the organizations are not up to the mark and they need to work a lot on the topic. But the efforts has started showing the result and the rate of emissions have significantly come down.
Fossil fuels are the main reasons for global warming. Fossil fuel means the nonrenewable energy sources including petroleum, coal and natural gases. They produce energy when they are burnt and cause environmental pollution. As these are nonrenewable the supply is getting reduced day by day and may diminish in future. Most of our vehicles, power industry and manufacturing uses fossil fuel and the carbon emissions made while burning the fuel make serious issues and is a big threat to the ozone layer and green house effect. The earth becomes susceptible to uv rays due to the ozone depletion mainly due to the fossil fuels and the global warming has made climate changes in different parts of earth. It makes our lives difficult and if it is not controlled the future will be very dangerous.
I expect the potential employer to be a responsible citizen who values the safety of environment and the people living in it. The potential employer should try to incorporate the environmental safety in their company operations. Apart from following the guidelines set by the environmentalists they should put their own effort in reducing green house emissions.
The companies with footprint in environmental protection gather public attention and get more recognition. I would be very happy to work in such an organization and work towards environmental stability. If I get two jobs I would prefer the organization which works towards environmental protection. I find it is my responsibility to support organization that have environmental footprint. Our purchase decisions are also made based on the environmental concerns. Mostly we try to purchase eco friendly products now and while doing parties we make use of eco friendly plates and reusable cups.
2. While considering the location for the new factory I need to give much importance to the cost of production as the higher production cost may badly affect our company performance. Hence I would suggest the developing region where the production cost is less. The decision that supports best interest of the organization would be to locate in a place where the production cost is low. But while advising the corporation I would suggest operating in the developing region also with the same environmental policies and standards. I would consider both cost and environment factors while making the decision. Changing the region and less rules do not mean that we are less responsible towards environmental protections and green gas emission. We should continue our efforts there also and set a standard for other companies operating in that region. If others also follow our efforts it will be a great achievement for the corporation and we can give significant contribution towards environmental protections. It will help to increase our corporation’s recognition among other companies. My decisions would not vary according to the company or industry since working with low production cost without compromising on environmental sustainability is applicable to all industries.
