Hi I am writing a lab But I do not know how the food web connects Here is the list Blenny-(fish) Yellow-eye mullet (fish) Sweeo (fish) shrimp pilchardiatoms phytoplankton sea urchin coralline algae bull kelp tiger shark water flea coralline algae dolphin octopus crab snapper(fish) _____________________________________________________________________________ I also have a few questions! 1. Where does energy in a fod come from initially 2. Which organisms have a role as producers in your food web?Why is their niche so important in this marine system? Whichorganisms provide the most available food for their immediateconsumers? 3. Which organisms are considered to be primary consumers, secondary consumers, or both? Why are their niches soimportant? 4. Explain extensively what the roles for each member of afood web are: a) producers b)primary consumers c)secondary consumers 5. Which member(s) of this food web possesses that highestamount of biomass? Which member(s) possess the lowest amount?Provide evidence for your reasoning. Label them on your foodweb. Explanation / Answer

1. Energy initially comes from inorganic sources, often the sun. (Some bacterial producers use chemical energy as well). 2. Corralline Algea, Phytoplankton, Bull Kelp, and maybePilchardiatoms (I'm not sure what they are). They produceenergy from inorganic sources. 3. Primary consumers eat only producers. Secondary consumers eatprimary consumers. I can identify Sea Urchins, Blenny as primary consumers. Remove the producers and primary consumers from the list and allyou have left are secondary consumers. 4. a) Producers introduce energy into the food webfrom inorganic sources b) Primary consumers must be able to digestproducers to use their energy. c) Secondary consumers are often the largest. Both primary and secondary consumers regulate the population oforganisms they feed on. 5. Producers must have the largest total biomass, but each individualmay not be small. Secondary consumers often have the largestindividuals, for them to be able to prey on other organisms, butthe total population that can be sustained is much smaller. Generally, 10% of the energy is passed on when an organism eatsanother.
