Think back over the last several years and recall the projects you have been a part of, whether you were the leader or not. Identify two or three that were the most meaningful, energizing, enriching, and fun for you. What would you say characterized these experiences? What made them meaningful, energizing, enriching, and fun? What made you want to continue to be part of them? Make a list of these attributes. What do the attributes you listed above say about what you value in the way projects are conducted? For example, you might say, "One of the things that I liked most about the project was the chance to work with some really talented people on a project that was really cutting-edge. This tells me that 'teamwork and collaboration, 'innovation,' and 'intelligence' are important values to me." Another way of asking this question is: What values and what actions are important to you in creating a climate in which you fecl both happy and successful?

Explanation / Answer

1.Two of the most meaningful, energizing and enriching projects for me are – (i) a team building project in which all team members were made to take part in different team building exercises. In this project members were divided into teams and were made to perform several team based activities and games. (ii) A training project which I led with regards to valuations of companies. In this project the focus was on imparting technical knowledge to my subordinates in a manner that is practical and relatable.

The attributes that made both these projects meaningful as well as fun are several. Firstly the projects inspired a shared vision. In case of the first project the shared vision was to work a better and well coordinated team. This will eventually lead to creation of synergies. The second project’s attribute was that it able to make instant changes among the junior analysts who became more knowledgeable about the concept of valuation. Thus the benefits were highly tangible and palpable in this case.

2. The values and actions that are important to me in creating a climate in which I feel happy and successful are those actions that enable others to realize their potential, motivate them and propel them to achieve the extraordinary. Human being s have immense latent potential and projects that help people unearth and utilize that potential makes me feel happy and successful. Thus what I value in the way projects are concluded is that how it empowers people and lead to better productivity and efficiency.

3. The things that I would hope to hear them say is that the project has paved way for the future success of the organization. It is shown the seeds for future development of employees and will be useful in future. Secondly I would hope to hear them say that the project was executed quite well and all aspects right from communication to delivery of modules were perfect.

4. I am already working on developing new project exercise and how can the project be changed with the changing environment and changing needs and requirements of the employees. This will make the project open to changes and highly flexible and thus the project can be amended easily in the future as per the needs of the time.

5. To create this legacy I will need to start with focusing on the shared vision and aligning that vision with the goal of the project. Both the vision of the organization and the goal of the project should be synchronized and when this is done only then can the tangible benefits will come to the organization and the employees who are part of the project.
