Question

In your own words and between (700-850 words), please introduce a research article about the topic below and write A: literature review on it and then B: write a proposal along with how it can be conducted and C: identify the potential area of the research.

TOPIC: Plant and animal structures are designed with different rules of symmetry. (answer the questions below in your literature review)

***What controls lines of symmetry in structural design?

***How are changes in the symmetry of structures reflected in the evolutionary history of organisms?

***(NO PLAGIARISM PLEASE)***

Explanation / Answer

Symmetry is defined as an orderly distribution. In bilateral symmetry, the body parts are divided into two identical halves on opposite sides along the axis within the body of organism. Humans are examples of bilateral symmetry. Jellyfish exhibits radial symmetry where the body parts can be divided into many equal parts along a central line. In some animals like sponges, their body parts cannot be divided into equal parts on any axis. They are said to be asymmetrical. Transformations with particular interest for symmetry are reflection, rotation and translation. They define the arrangement of repeated parts in a symmetric structure. The line of symmetry in a structural design therefore depends upon transformation and the structure and shape of the body.

The study of evolution with the help of symmetry of organisms is called as geometric morphometric methods. Methods in geometric morphometrics are based on an explicit geometric definition of shape like proportions, angles, and the relative arrangement of parts in a structure. Asymmetrical organisms are the lowest in evolutionary tree. Then the radial symmetrical organisms developed. then subsequently biradial and bilateral life forms developed with bilaterally symmetrical organisms at the top of evolutionary tree.
