Question

Consider the circuit in the figure blow. It contains 3 light identical bulbs and a capacitor. Assume the wires in the circuit have negligible resistance.

You have just connected the battery and the capacitor is still completely uncharged. Rank the brightness of the light bulbs A,B, and C as bright, dim, no light.

If possible can you also post a drawing of the equivalent circuit considering the behavior of the capacitor when it is uncharged.

CASE-1) At the moment of connection

Bulb A: No light, because the capacitor having no resistance when it is completely un charged. So it is short circuited, therefore no current flow through the bulb-A at the moment. But It will lighting up as Dim and power will increase with tiime.

Bulb B: Bright light at the moment because there must be a current flow through it.

Bulb C: No light at any moment, because it is short circuited by a resistance less wire.

CASE-2) After the circuit's stable condition

Bulb A,B : Bright light, because capacitor fully charged, that means a higher resistance. So now the current flows through bulb-B and bulb-A only.

Bulb-C: No light. Because the capacitor having a infinite resistance after fully charged. So, no current flow through C.
