Question

Part A) What must the emf in the figure be in order for the current through 7.00-OHM resistor to be 1.76 A? Each emf source has negligible internal resistance.
Part B) What is the amount of current through the 24.0-V battery?
Part C) What is the amount of current through the 2.0-OHM resistor?
For part A, The answer is 8.05V. I know what the set up looks like, The set up looks like 0 = 24V-((1.76A*7OHM)) - I(3OHM).. but can you please show how to set that up?
I also would like step-by-step instructions on how to set up and solve B and C.

Explanation / Answer

for part b )

use kirchoff law on outer loop

24 - 7(1.76) - 3I = 0

here I = current dispatched by 24 V battery

I = 3.89 A

part c )

total current = current dispatched by 24 battery

I = I1 + I2

I2 = current in 7 ohm register

3.89 = I1 + 1.76

I1 = 2.13 A
