Question

Consider the circuit shown in the figure below. (Let R = 7.60 ? and ?V = 13.0 V.)

(a) Find the equivalent resistance of the circuit in the figure above. ?

(b) Find the potential difference across each resistor.

?Vac = V

?Vce = V

?Vcd = V

?Ved = V

?Vfd = V

?Vdb = V

(c) Find each current indicated in the figure above.

I1 = A

I2 = A

I3 = A

I4 = A

I5 = A

(d) Find the power delivered to each resistor.

Pac = W

Pce = W

Pcd = W

Ped = W

Pfd = W

Pdb = W

Please, I need help trying to do this; I've been doing all the math right as far as I can tell, but the damn WebAssign isn't accepting most of the answers, and one of them accepted the answer I got for something else. Please, any help would be apprieciated, but it needs to be completely worked out.

Explanation / Answer

let R1 = 2.4 ohm

R2 = 9 ohm

R = 7.60 ohm

V = 13 volt

Re ( equivalent resistance) :-

R parallel with 9 ohm = ( 9*R / 9+R)

now in series with R1 , so resiatance = ( 9*R / 9+R) + R1

= ( 9*760 / 9*7.60) + 2.4 = 6.52 ohm

now this will parallel with R , so rrsistance = R*6.52 / R+6.52

= 3.49 ohm

now in series with R and R ,so equivalent resistance of circuit, Re = R + 3.49 + R

= 18.7 ohm

c) I1 = V / Re = 13/ 18.7 = 0.695 A

Vcd = V - 2*R*I1 = 13 - 2*7.60*0.695 = 2.43 V

I2 = Vcd / R = 0.307 A

I3 = I1 - I2 = 0.388A

I4 = I3* R2 / R + R2 = 0.210 A

I5 = I3 - I4 = 0.178 A

b) Vac = I1*R = 5.28 V

Vce = I3*2.4 = 0.93 V

Vcd = 2.34 V

Ved = I4*R =1.596 V

Vfd = I5*9= 1.602 V

Vdb = I1*R= 5.282 V

d) Pac = I12*R = 3.67 W

Pce = I32*2.4 = 0.36 w

Pcd = I22*R = 0.716 W

Ped = I42*R = 0.335 W

Pfd = I52*9 = 0.285 w

Pdb = I12*R = 3.67 W
