Question

Refer to the choices below to answer the following question(s).Each choice may be used once, more than once, or not at all.Indicate whether the following events occur during:
  1. photosynthesis
  2. respiration
  3. both photosynthesis and respiration
  4. neither photosynthesis nor respiration
1. synthesis of ATP by chemiosmotic mechanism
2. reduction of oxygen which forms water.
3. reduction of NADP+
4. the splitting of carbon dioxide to form oxygen gas and carboncompound.
5. generation of proton gradients across mebrane.

I'm not sure if my answers are correct but for the following Igot:
1. Both.
2. Respiration
3. Photosynthesis
4. Photosythesis
5. Neither.

Explanation / Answer

Well the answers for 1,2 and 4 are right But for 3) It should be BOTH as reduction of NADP+ occurs inphotosynthesis (during non cyclic phosphorylation) andrespiration (during krebs cycle). 5) Generation of proton gradients results in ATP synthesis bychemiosmotic mechanism. So going by the answer for 1 the answer here too should beBOTH. Hope this helps.
