Question
I wish to conduct an experiment to determine the effectiveness of a new reading program for third grade children in my local school district who need help with reading skills. What parameters would I need to establish on the test (# of samples, who would conduct the test, test conditions, etc.)? Be as specific as you can (you don’t need to be educational experts to answer this). What would be an appropriate statistical test for this data and research question? Why would this be more appropriate than some other statistical test?
Explanation / Answer
From given problem, We take less than samples( students of 3rd grade children) . We take exams of students before new reading program and after new reading program. And then we take data of stidents exams marks which takes after and before new reading program.
Here we use t-test , And check can their is diffrence between students marks means which takes after and before new reading program. Here
null hypothesis is : H0 : Means of exam marks which takes after and before new reading program is same.
vs Alternnative hypothesis :Ha :Means of exam marks which takes after and before new reading program is different.
Here we use t-test because,
i) It is very esaily useful for small sample. And it is more adaptable than other test. Because we use z test for large samples.
ii) We use Anova for more than 2 means comparisions. But t test use for 2 means comparisions.
iii) t-test is more commanly used than other test.
iv) t-test used when standard dviation is unknown.
