Explanation / Answer

Stress management process

To effectively manage stress, we need first identify the source of stress. Many a times, the reason for stress may not be clear. However, unless we identify all the roots of stress, it is difficult to effectively manage stress.

Once, we have identified the source (or sources) of stress, we need to effectively track the stress. This is a self reflection practice. We need to write the down the points that cause stress and how we responded. If it has helped in relieving the stress or not. Stress management is gradual process and we may need to try different responses in order to see their relationship to the stress. In general it is a healthy practice to reply positively to the stressful events.

Talking to the person (may be a supervisor or colleague) that is involved in the stressful event also helps. Personally I find it relaxing if I can discuss the disagreements or confusions with the subject. Sharing a joke may help too. For example,

"Attachment is not when people speak to one another day and night. Attachment is not when two people cannot live without one another. Attachment is not being unable to stay away from one another for a moment.

When the HR sends and email with a subject "Official appraisal Letter" and you find the attached file is missing - that is when you understand the meaning of true 'Attachment'"

Time management is also helpful in handling stress. A very good practice for time management is to make sure that you create a daily, weekly and monthly checklist with estimated deadline. As you complete a task, tick them off.

Hopefully the above answer helps!
